Cell Segmentation via Shape Modeling

چکیده
Abstract. We develop a novel generative model for arbitrary 2D shapes, based on multiscale deformation. We demonstrate how our model can be used to segment objects within an image by fitting a shape-sensitive contour to each object’s boundary. We demonstrate our model by performing segmentation on di↵erential interference contrast microscopy (DIC) images of yeast, where many cells possess aberrant shape and boundaries that contain major gaps or touch other cells. Our method can be seen as a ‘shape-sensitive’ and statistical active contour.

A Useful Family of Stochastic Processes for Modeling Shape Diffusions
One of the new area of research emerging in the field of statistics is the shape analysis. Shape is defined as all the geometrical information of an object whose location, scale and orientation is not of interest. Diffusion in shape analysis can be studied via either perturbation of the key coordinates identifying the initial object or random evolution of the shape itself. Reviewing the f...

Appearance and shape are two key elements exploited in medical image segmentation. However, in some medical image analysis tasks, appearance cues are weak/misleading due to disease/artifacts and often lead to erroneous segmentation. In this paper, a novel deformable model is proposed for robust segmentation in the presence of weak/misleading appearance cues. Owing to the less trustable appearan...
متن کاملCT volumetric data-based left ventricle motion estimation: an integrated approach.
This paper describes a novel approach to left ventricle motion analysis via the integration of image segmentation with shape deformation analysis using computerized tomography (CT) volumetric image data. This approach is different from traditional image analysis scenario in which the image segmentation and shape analysis were considered separately. The advantage of integrating the image segment...
متن کاملRab11 is required for maintenance of cell shape via βPS integrin mediated cell adhesion in Drosophila
In eukaryotes, vesicle trafficking is regulated by the small monomeric GTPases of the Rab protein family. Rab11, (a subfamily of the Ypt/Rab gene family) an evolutionarily conserved, ubiquitously expressed subfamily of small monomeric Rab GTPases, has been implicated in regulating vesicular trafficking through the recycling of endosomal compartment. In an earlier communication, we have shown th...
متن کاملHuman action segmentation and recognition via motion and shape analysis
In this paper, we present an automated video analysis system which addresses segmentation and detection of human actions in an indoor environment, such as a gym. The system aims at segmenting different movements from the input video and recognizing the action types simultaneously. Two action segmentation techniques, namely color intensity based and motion based, are proposed. Both methods can e...
